an intergenerational dance based project
A new collaborative mature and youth dance project; Our aim is to provide creative opportunities for both mature and young talented dancers and performers; intergenerational. Learning from each other, we are creating a community that is inclusive, accepting and supportive of individual experiences.
Intergenerational (dance) projects bring people of different ages together through movement, creating opportunities to share skills, stories and perspectives. We believe they can help reduce social isolation, build confidence and understanding, challenge assumptions about age and ability, and strengthen relationships through a shared creative experience.

A word from THE JOINT PRODUCERS
Rochelle, with her incredible vision, and Utassy have been collaborating for approximately three years on a variety of ventures. Initially Rochelle worked primarily with staff members to produce ‘After the Fall’. Simply a short cameo piece with costumes by Sue and Kev, and simple but perfect use of light to conclude, it raised a lot of discussion and enthusiasm in the foyeur.
Last year myself, Kevin, Rachel Burke and David Campbell sponsored a series of workshops called ‘Footprint’ in which Rochelle and Hadi Kazemi- Tameh presented a blend of their dance and drama methodologies.
Comprised mostly of past Utassy students who, as artists have excelled in their separate fields – dance, music, aerial work, drama, science – we ran 10 hours of workshops. Week one was at the beautiful Rudolf Steiner building, ‘Oakhall’, and the second at the soon to be pulled down ‘Soundshell’ at the Whitehorse Centre.
Last year in the 32nd Annual Peter and the Wold/Carnival season (culminating in a performance to live Nicholas Orchestra with Derek Guille narrating…) we also incorporated Rochelle’s colourful ‘BeBlocks’.
Rochelle worked closely with choreographer Kate Horner and lighting designer Rachel Burke to produce ‘Tides’ a beautiful diverse piece that was full of ebb and flow.
Although initially we were to stay separate we are so pleased, as part of ‘Joint’, to join forces with the Scream Bloody Murder cast.
‘aRound aBout’ which highlights and develops individual artists as well as relying on dancers who understand the importance of being par of an ensemble, is such a good fit. It is a sophisticated piece and perfect for our eclectic group of independent dancers who have been moulding themselves over the last few years.
So we extend our sincere thanks and best wishes to the whole JOINT team – please look to credits for list of names – but overwhelmingly , under the unique and bold guidance of Rochelle, to our dancers – Daryl, Ellie, Dani, Kate, Nikki, Sebastian, Dom, Bella and Rory who will add a new story to this historic and evocative venue.

I would like to thank all the performers from the bottom of my heart. They put so much into these seasons; time, energy, creativity, and money. They are all volunteering their time… at least 300 hours for some.
A special mention to the wonderful small dance businesses that have also supported us with rehearsal spaces, access to their networks and so much more. Also the many wonderful artists, technical crew, production, behind the scenes people that really help to pull these shows together and bring another layer of awesomeness.
