What I’m working on.
Dance, movement and choreography have been a large part of my life since the age of seven. I trained as a dancer at the Victorian College of the Arts and then Arts & Educational Schools in England. I was truly inspired during my professional performance career working with Meryl Tankard Dance Theatre, so I returned to the VCA and studied choreography and directing. I formed my own independent company following that and have developed a strong network of wonderfully talented people across the world. During that time I have also worked as a Pilates Instructor. I have over 26 years experience in Pilates for rehabilitation and fitness, both nationally and internationally.
Over the years working as a director and choreographer, I found that having effective training, strength and physical attributes makes for powerful dancers/performers, though great dancers need to develop a mental edge. This edge (state of mind) is effective in supporting performance ability, injury prevention and recovery, career longevity, and personal well being.
I have always been curious about how dancers prepare, perform and work their minds pre and post performance and during class. As a clinical hypnotherapist I am developing a new skill set combining the best physical fusion with a better mind process (through clinical hypnotherapy). I believe this will assist choreographers, director, teachers and dancers by providing tools that support dancers and other performers to be truly at their best and be able to sustain themselves with a healthy and sustainable mindset.
