Yarram Wearable Art 2025

The inaugural Yarram Wearable Art Festival exceeded all expectations, establishing itself as a significant new cultural event for the region. More than 200 people attended the catwalk showcase, an outstanding result for a first-time event in a small regional community. The festival attracted artists from across Victoria and interstate, including Queensland and other Australian states, alongside local designers, school students, performers, volunteers, and businesses, creating a vibrant celebration of creativity, sustainability, and community participation. Awards recognising artistic excellence, emerging talent, and audience engagement added to the excitement and encouraged participation across all ages and experience levels.

The festival generated extensive local media coverage and strong word-of-mouth support, with the event continuing to be discussed throughout the community well beyond its conclusion. The month-long exhibition at the Yarram Courthouse Gallery extended audience engagement and encouraged repeat visitation to the town. The overwhelming response from participants, businesses, audiences, and sponsors has created significant momentum, with many already expressing enthusiasm to return for the 2027 festival. This strong foundation demonstrates the festival’s potential to become a recognised annual cultural event that contributes to regional tourism, community wellbeing, environmental awareness, and the ongoing development of Gippsland’s creative industries, while strengthening creative connections across Australia.
