Yarram Creative Collaboration Group

Driven by a passion for bringing people together through creativity, in 2023 Rochelle initiated this community performing arts project to create meaningful connections and offer something different.

Welcoming people of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels, the project invited participants to explore movement, storytelling, music, and performance in a supportive and inclusive environment.

More than creating a performance, it was about building relationships, discovering hidden creativity, and sharing a unique artistic experience to enrich both participants and the wider community.

The group worked together for about three months, hiring a local hall.

Beyond the performance making itself, the project demonstrated the power of community theatre to bring people together in ways that extend well beyond the stage. Participants formed new friendships, developed confidence, discovered creative abilities they never knew they had, and experienced the satisfaction of working towards a shared goal.

For many, it was their first opportunity to be involved in a creative process like Rochelle’s, proving that the arts can be accessible, welcoming, and deeply rewarding.

The project’s success has created momentum for possible future collaborations, strengthened community connections, and laid the foundation for ongoing creative opportunities that can continue to enrich the cultural life of the region.

The group will eventually become the foundation and connection for the proposed Regional Arts Fund Practice in Community Program.
